Laird was born on August 9, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were the late Don Estey Anglesey and Lila “Juanita” Adams. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Mike Kent in Blackfoot, Idaho. With the help of his stepfather, he began a love for the great outdoors that he carried throughout life. At age 17, he enlisted in United States Navy. His first official station was the Dam Neck Naval Base. While stationed at Dam Neck he met fellow Sailor Laura Lynn Hardy. The two married in Virginia Beach and began life as not only husband and wife but also best friends, and partners. They met the many seasons of life together as one, always supporting the other. They were both stationed in Keflavik Iceland where they welcomed their first child Candace. His career took him to the Mare Island Shipyard where he trained to be a Data System Technician and the family welcomed their second child, Chastyn. The family relocated to Virginia Beach where he worked on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). He eventually retired from the United States Navy. While in Virginia and began a civilian career in Cyber Security. The family went on to move to Germany where he spent some of his best years. Laird moved to Böblingen, Germany where he worked at DISA Europe for 9 years. While in Germany, the family hiked, biked and traveled all over Europe. He moved once again back to California where he spent many years, until relocating to Abilene in his final retirement.
He loved cooking and during his retirement, his recipes got more interesting and even tastier. He loved adventure and was always ready with camera in hand capturing the moment. He and Laura traveled the world together creating memories as they went. In retirement, he enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Peaches. He loved his daughters and life only got better once he became an Opa to his cherished grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of family and devotion to hard work. He always worked hard to accomplish his goals of giving his family a better life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lila “Juanita” Kent.
He leaves to cherish his amazing legacy his devoted wife, Laura Anglesey; daughters, Candace and her husband Joseph Fank, III and Chastyn and her husband Josh Ramirez; his grandchildren, Grayson and Isla Fank, Zoe Severn and his name sake Rhyett Laird Ramirez; stepfather-Mike Kent; siblings, Matt Anglesey, Vaughn Anglesey and Marianne Liddle; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins , other relatives and friends.
