

Leslie Steve Van Zandt, 59, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at a local medical facility in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Les was born on September 22, 1953 to Billy Steve and Sybil Cox Van Zandt in Coleman, TX. He worked in the oil field prior to working for the City of Abilene’s water treatment department for 13 years. Les loved to paint and draw, go hunting and fishing, ride horses, cooking, and he enjoyed music. He especially loved being with his family.
Preceding him in death were his father, Billy Steve Van Zandt; and one niece, Misty Van Zandt.
Survivors include his mother, Sybil Van Zandt of Buffalo Gap; his wife of 9 years, Teresa Van Zandt of Buffalo Gap; three sons, Bubba Van Zandt and wife, Traci of Burnet, Dustin Van Zandt of Saginaw, TX, and Cole Van Zandt and wife, Heather Roysdon of Abilene; five daughters, Rachelle Van Zandt of Lewisville, TX, Brianne Babb and husband, Anthony of Buffalo Gap, Trista Jennings and husband, Tony Greene of Buffalo Gap, Kristen Yopp and husband, Jim of Abilene, and Lacey Jones of Abilene; two brothers, Tim Van Zandt and wife, Becky of Eula and Kenny Van Zandt of Buffalo Gap; two sisters, Ginger Ferguson and husband, Leigh of Abilene and Liz Van Zandt of Broken Arrow, OK; and sixteen grandchildren.
