Loretta Maye Wolcott, 79, of Abilene passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 9am, Friday, July 27,2018 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6 to 8pm on Thursday evening at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.
Loretta was born on July 23, 1939 in Holton, Kansas to Claude and Pauline Bontrager. She attended and graduated from high school in Wetmore, Kansas. After graduation, she met and married the love of her life Michael James Wolcott while he was stationed in Topeka, Kansas, while serving in the US Air Force. They were married on October 5, 1960.
During her work career before retiring, Loretta worked at the Dyess Commissary in the evenings and later began her career as a cashier at Walmart. Loretta loved to sew, go gambling, travel and watch game shows nonstop, 24 hours a day. Also, spoiling her 2 grandsons was a huge priority in her life as well.
Surviving Loretta is her daughter Paula Sudberry and husband Damon of Abilene; and 2 grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Richey of Lewisville, TX.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family would like to thank the nurses with Encompass, as well as the nurses at Abilene Regional Medical Center for their wonderful care of Loretta.
