

Lucille Catherine Evans of Abilene passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24th, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, in Abilene. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23rd, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lucille was born on September 1, 1927 in Weston, West Virginia to James and Mamie Craft. She was a long-time Abilene resident, having relocated here in 1966. She was adored and loved by all who knew her.
Lucille was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed sharing her love of flowers with friends and family. She developed long-standing friendships with neighbors and co-workers in her many years as an Abilene resident. Above all, she dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and great grand-children. The kindness, generosity, and wisdom which she shared with her family were the traits most admired by those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jack E. Evans, Sr., her parents, and 7 brothers and sisters. Those left to hold dear to her memory are her sons Jack E. Evans, Jr. and his wife Lucille of Port Richey, Florida, Gary M. Evans of Abilene; daughters, Carolyn J. English and her husband Steve of The Woodlands, TX, Linda M. Schroeder and husband Ken of Houston, TX, Debra Sue Lindley and husband Randy of Abilene; grandchildren, Steven and Jason English, Chenell Evans, Cassidy Schroeder, and Haley Lindley; great-grandchildren, Seth, Tera, Peyton, and Kaden English.
