Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Lucy was born to Walter and Jenny Wright on September 21, 1919 in Cisco, Texas. She attended Cisco Public Schools and graduated from Cisco High School. In 1937, Lucy married J.T. Weaver, Jr. She attended Hardin-Simmons University, receiving both her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education. Lucy taught in the Olden Public School system as an elementary school teacher from 1946 until 1956. In 1956, she and her family moved to Abilene, Texas, where she taught Physical Health Education at Abilene High School until her retirement in 1984.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Weaver, Jr. and a daughter, Betty Carol Rhodes of Abilene.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean W. Everett of Evanston, Wyoming; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford Street, Abilene, Texas 79605-9989.
