Lula Slaughter

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Rochester, Texas, with Reverend David Lee Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour before the service (10:00 a.m.) at First Baptist Church in Rochester.

Lula was born in Rusk, Texas on February 27, 1925 to Abraham and Odell Mallard. She was one of six children. Lula married Robert Lee Slaughter on July 12, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She moved to Rochester, Texas in 1950.

Lula was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Slaughter, on June 28, 1994; two sons, Robert Earl Slaughter and Aubrey Slaughter; and a daughter, Annis Slaughter.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wayne Slaughter of Fort Worth, Texas and Mr. & Mrs. Danny Slaughter of Abilene, Texas; a daughter, Miss Jaquita Slaughter of Abilene, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joyce Slaughter, wife of Robert Earl Slaughter (deceased), of Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Mr. Henry Mallard, Mr. Adam Mallard, and Mr. Carl Mallard, all of Rusk, Texas.
