Mary Louise Howell

Mary Louise Howell, 94, passed away on January 31, 2013 at a local medical center in Abilene. Graveside services will be 2:00p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster, TX under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., Abilene, TX. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 7p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Louise was born on September 30, 1918 in Dallas, TX, to parents Albert S. Taliaferro and Nelle Shaw Jasper. She was reared in Dallas, attended Auburn Elementary School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1936. Mary Louise later graduated from Metropolitan Business College in Dallas where she worked until her marriage. She married Col. H.R. Howell, Jr. in 1942 and resided in a number of locations in the United States and overseas during her husband’s 30 years of service with the United States Air Force. They moved to Abilene in 1970. Mary Louise was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ for 40 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Col. Henry R. Howell, Jr.; sisters, Ellen Bounds and Nell Kennedy; brothers, Achilles Taliaferro and Walter Taliaferro.

Survivors include her sons, William George Howell of Ft. Worth and Patrick Howell of Abilene; a daughter, Sydney Teague of Austin; a brother, Archer Taliaferro of San Antonio; grandchildren, William Randolph Teague, Jennifer Howell, William Randall Howell, and Christi Repp.
