She was born on November 18, 1927, in Paducah, Texas, to Rueben Douglas Tye and Grace Carrie Hull. Mary graduated from Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas, in 1944. On May 5, 1947, she married the love of her life Marshall Sherman, in Abilene, beginning a lifelong journey devoted to family and faith.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Rueben Douglas Tye, Jr. and Earnest James Tye; her sister, Frances Annell Davis; her sons, William Marshall Sherman, Jr. and John Sinclair Sherman; and her son-in-law, Gary C. Huff.
She is survived by her loving children: daughters Mary Elizabeth Huff of Katy, Texas, and Peggy Sue Sherman of College Station, Texas; and sons Walter Scott Sherman and his wife Erin of San Antonio, Texas, and Marcus David Sherman and his wife Lisa of Magnolia, Texas. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory.
