Opal Marie Merriam

Opal Marie Merriam, 85, of Abilene, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at her residence. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, with Chaplain Jerry Vincent officiating, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home.

Opal was born August 1, 1927 to A.H. Hollowell and Inez Greenwood Hollowell in Blackwell, Texas. She married W.A. Merriam. Opal was employed by Timex, Inc. as an Assembly Line Worker.

She was preceded in death by her father, A.H. Hollowell; her mother, Inez Greenwood Hollowell; her husband, W.A. Merriam; three brothers, Clyde, Bob, and Wim Hollowell; and one sister, Carolyn Hastey. Survivors include three sons, Billy Merriam, Gary Merriam, and Ronnie Merriam, all of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Glenn Hollowell; thirteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
