Paul Edward Hackney was born June 26, 1928 in Middleton, Ohio to William Grover and Effie Mae Hackney. As a child he grew up on a farm with his parents and 5 brothers, George, John, Roger, Donald, and Gordon. After some time, he joined the Navy. He then met his soon to be wife, Mary Ida Hackney, in Abilene to where they both settled and raised a loving family of two children, daughter Glenda Gayle and son Ricky Paul. He also loved to travel. Paul and Mary would take yearly trips to Ruidoso, New Mexico where they both loved the scenic views and leisure time. He continued this tradition into his earlier 90's.
Paul found his talents in sales. When he retired, he took up painting. He became really good at his pastime. He then started his own business buying goods & resale. Started out through garage sales, then to weekends with his booth at the Buffalo Gap Flea Market, along with many other entrepreneur opportunities.
Paul is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Mary, daughter Glenda, granddaughter Amanda, his parents and siblings. Paul is survived by his son, Ricky Hackney; grandchildren, Anna Parker Williams, Stephanie Parker Guajardo, Cassie Parker, and Zachary Hackney; 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Paul's family wishes to extend our gratitude and thankfulness to Hendrick Hospice, all of his caregivers from the VA, and extended agencies who loved Paul and cared for him.
