Her family wrote, “Mom was seen as a kind, strong, capable woman who was happy in her roles of wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone loved and respected her. We have memories of her speaking of her faith in God during good times and bad, singing in church, and countless occasions where we saw her prayers answered, and her trust that God had a better plan when they were not.”
They also wrote, “Dad was a pilot, which gave Mom a life of moving often, including three years in Tokyo, Japan and many years in Anchorage, Alaska. She lived adventures she could not have imagined as a young girl, which included soloing as a student pilot soon after marriage and traveling literally around the world to five continents. When Dad retired from flying, they settled in Abilene, Texas and opened Texas Sun Shield window tinting, where they operated for many years until retirement. During those years Dad was active as a Colonel in the Confederate Air Force, and Mom as a “Colonel’s Lady”. Their final home together was in Winters, Texas, where Dad died in 2004. He rests in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery. A year later after suffering a stroke, Mom moved into Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab, where she received loving care these past eight years. We are thankful to God for taking her quietly and peacefully, and happy she is reunited with Dad.”
