

Peggy Ann “Peg” Richard, 74, of Abilene, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 in Abilene. She was born on August 17, 1947 in Sturgis, Michigan to Fayette McKinley Woodworth, III and Joyce Adeline Iddings Woodworth.
On July 7, 1968 she married James Lawrence Richard in LaGrange, Indiana. She and her husband moved to Abilene in 1984 from the Republic of Panama when James was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base. She became active in her community serving as a member of Key City Amateur Radio Club and served as pianist at Berry Lane Baptist Church. Peg worked as a volunteer for the Abilene I.S.D. in VIPS, where she served as chairman. She was named A.I.S.D. Volunteer of the Year in 1996-1997. She also served as an officer in District 14 P.T.A.
She is survived by her husband, James L. “Jim” Richard of Abilene; one daughter, Karen Michele Richard of Abilene; mother, Joyce Woodworth of LaGrange, Indiana; four sisters, Barbara Maskow of Howe, Indiana, Jeanne Spreuer of Wolcottville, Indiana, Eleanor Cappelli of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Mary Woodworth of LaGrange, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Fayette McKinley Woodworth, III in 2004 and a brother, James W. Woodworth in 2011.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry James, Randy Robinson, R. J. Harden, Ricky Thompson, Jamie Rollins, Billy Barden, Chad Smith and Dennis Chappell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
