R.B. Parker

R. B. Parker, 85, passed away on May 7, 2013 in Clyde, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11th at Oplin Cemetery, Oplin, Texas, with Rick Hargrove officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr. Parker was born in Winters, Texas and had served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Shangri La, stationed in Pearl Harbor. R. B. married Zella Mae Willingham on September 10, 1960. He later retired after 30 years with Lockheed Martin as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, O.R. Parker and Ola (Bee) Parker, his wife, Zella Mae Parker; daughter, Geneva Grissom, sister-in-law, Virginia Parker and brother-in-law, Tommy Coleman.

Survivors include two sons, James Johnson of Abilene and Richard Johnson and wife, Lillie of Clyde; two daughters, Pat Clough and husband, Ray of Potosi, and Mary Ann Jones of Abilene; brother, Max Parker of Sulpher Springs; sister, Dixie Gaye Coleman of Abilene; grandchildren, Misty Hodges, Kristy Ferguson, Debra Scruggs, Charlene Moore, Shirley White, Michael Brooks, Genny Abercrombie, Angela Kelly, Kimberly Clark, Jimmy Walsworth, Penny Kelly, Denise Hicks, Mary Noel Corn, and Brad Jones; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
