Ronnie was born on October 29, 1955, in Hamlin, Texas, to James Ronald Maberry and Etta Fae Hahn Maberry.
He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1974, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from McMurry University in 1978. In high school Ronnie was successful in track and football and received a track scholarship to McMurry University. He was not afraid of hard work and while working in the oil fields and a steel fabrication factory he decided he definitely wanted to pursue a college degree. His goals for life led him to earn credentials as a Certified Public Accountant. Known for excelling at every endeavor, he passed the CPA examination on his first try, an impressive accomplishment.
After obtaining his certification Ronnie worked as a CPA in Abilene and Midland, and while living in Midland married Jeri Miller where they welcomed their son JW in 1983. Following that, the family lived in Ramona, Oklahoma for 14 years. He was loved by his Oklahoma family and made many friends. He moved back to Abilene, Texas in 2000 where he was introduced to his wife Connie by his cousin Charlotte Kelley. Ronnie was self employed and enjoyed his time working with Alexander and Company for the last 15 years.
He was dedicated to his profession, but Ronnie was a man of diverse interests. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. His most cherished memories were of his elk hunts and fishing trips with his son, JW. Ronnie was a cattleman and a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association who was passionate about breeding, training and caring for his quarter horses. He was known for his horsemanship, and some of his happiest times were on horseback herding his cattle.
Ronnie’s professional career kept him busy; cattle and horses filled his days, but nothing compared with his love and devotion to his family as husband, father and Grandad. Times with family were cherished, and his eyes lit up when he spent time with his precious grandchildren. He adored them and often told stories about their mischievous antics.
Ronnie was one of those rare salt of the earth individuals; simply stated, a good and honest person. His word was his bond. He was reliable, loyal and dependable. He faced and endured health challenges over the years, but he continued to fight valiantly, and through those times touched many other lives. He impacted everyone he met, loved ones and strangers alike. Ronnie will be greatly missed.
Ronnie loved his church family at View Baptist Church and serving on the finance committee.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife Connie Maberry; his father James Ronald Maberry; his son James Will (J.W.) Maberry and wife Sarah; stepchildren Amanda Morgan Villa and husband Jesse, and John Preston Morgan and wife Liz; precious granddaughter Kallie Maberry; step grandchildren Fernando Villa, Jacob Villa, Faith Morgan, McKenzy Morgan and Preston Morgan; siblings Kenneth Maberry and wife Tami, Tommy Maberry and wife Shiela, and Rita Fae Branch and husband John; stepsiblings James Leo Gentry, Linda Gail Gentry and Butch Owings

Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, February 6, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, and celebration of Ronald’s life will be held on Monday, February 7, at 10:00 AM at View Baptist Church, 250 Boynton Road, Abilene. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Aspermont Cemetery, Aspermont.
