Ruby J. Nesmith

Ruby J. Nesmith, 87, of Potosi died Tuesday March 13, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Friday March 16, 2018 in the Potosi Cemetery on Potosi Road. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:30-6:30pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.

Ruby was born in Goldthwaite, TX as the second child of Nellie and David Nugent. She went to school first in Mullen then in Goldthwaite where she graduated from high school and moved to Abilene in 1947. Ruby worked at the Abilene State School as a supervisor for over 26 years. She also worked at the Ponderosa Ballroom for 28 years.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 25 years, White Nesmith; her loving son, William “Kato” Nesmith; and by siblings Junior, Elmer, Carroll, Jack, Clyde, Ruthie Mae and Rubin.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne Douglas James Nugent and his wife Sharon; her sister Patsy Nugent; brother Johnny; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Jackson. Ruby also wished to acknowledge her long-time friends Sherry

Meador, Francis Rowlett and most of all her friend and partner, Little Red.
