

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Dr. David Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ruth was born July 2, 1935 in Bastrop, Texas to Charles Luther Hennington and Ethel Selma Nite Hennington. In 1953, she graduated from Abilene High, having previously attended Wylie Schools. Ruth worked for CIT Credit Corp. for 7 years. She married Eugene W. Scott on November 25, 1954 in Abilene, Texas. Gene and Ruth were blessed with two daughters, Tamara and Lynda. They were married for 30 years. After their 30th year of marriage, Gene passed away due to complications of a heart transplant. Ruth found love again with Vance Armstrong who had three children. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth was an excellent cook, devoted friend, accomplished angler, water skier, and even received her pilots license, among her other adventures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gene; her beloved husband, Vance; her daughter, Lynda; and her dog, Penny.
Survivors include her children, Tamara Scott Kinyon and husband, Paul, of San Angelo, Kathy Armstrong Skaggs of Bullard, Texas, Sharon Kay Duran and husband, John Paul, of Flint, Texas, and Gary Lee Armstrong and wife, Cindy, of Flint, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Justin Crossland and wife Deb, Nicole Taggart and husband, Keenan, Jared Kinyon, Hunter Kinyon, Levi Cochran, Christy Clement, Logan Skaggs, Cara Armstrong, John Brown, and Jion and husband, Ken; and seven great-grandchildren, Raelynn Cochran, Eva and Ashlynn Crossland, Kaitlyn Taggart, Tucker, Bryce, and Zoe Dietz; and one sister, Luan Wallace and husband, Don, of Arlington, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), or the Local Animal Shelter (Abilene Animal Control), or Rescue the Animals, 5933 South 1st, Abilene, Texas 79605.
