Seferino M. Cortinez Sr.

Seferino M. Cortinez, Sr., 81, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his residence in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St., with burial following in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 6:00p.m to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Seferino was born on August 26, 1933 in Abilene, TX to Juan Cortinez and Crecelia Moreno. He married Virginia Gonzales on April 15, 1959 in Abilene. Seferino worked for Paymaster Feed for 16 years and then for Rose and Sons Construction for 45 years. He loved working in and outside of his home as well as fishing. Seferino enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was a member of Graham Street Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his father, Juan Cortinez; his mother, Crecelia Moreno Cortinez; siblings Frank, Maurellio, Isabel, Jose, Ysidra, Natasia, and Natividad. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cortinez; two sons, Seferino Cortinez, Jr. and David Cortinez all of Abilene; two daughters, Herlinda Lopez of Abilene, and Sylvia Villareal of Puyallup, Washington; three brothers, Ben, Paul, and John; two sisters, Juanita and Irene; fifteen grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
