
Vonda “Buddy” Buck, 80, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at a local medical center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7p.m. at the funeral home.
Vonda was born December 11, 1933 in Coleman, Texas to Charles and Ola Scott Thompson. In 1951 she was the winner of the Coleman High School Beauty contest. Vonda married her high school sweetheart, Foy Buck on March 14, 1953 in Brownwood and enjoyed 60 years together. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she was a Baptist.
Vonda had been a bank officer for 1st State Bank and also worked as assistant manager at the Taylor County Fair Grounds. She had a passion for the fine arts and a love for learning. Vonda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Glen Buck; and her granddaughter, Kelli Klahn.
Survivors include her husband, Foy J. Buck; sons, Larry Buck and Scott Buck of Abilene; daughter, Vicki Klahn and husband, Bobby of Arlington; sister, Wanda Faye Smith of Farmington, NM; granddaughters, Erin Klahn, Kristen Klahn, Alycia Albarado; and great-granddaughter, Kollyns Gallaway.
