William “Bill” Jack Oxford, 83, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, in Gulfport, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Abilene. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Oxford was born in Waycross, GA on February 14, 1930 and graduated from Waycross High School in 1948. William was a Vietnam veteran who served as an electrician’s mate in the U.S. Navy and as a radio operator in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a long-time employee and retiree from the U.S. Postal Service.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Lennis Oxford and Kenneth Reeves Oxford; and a sister, Shirley Oxford Thomas.
Survivors include two daughters, Myra Brandstrom of Albuquerque, NM and Susan Wilcock of Abilene, TX; his brother, Willie Clyde Oxford of Waycross, GA; and two sisters, Betty Wingate of Jacksonville, FL and Suzanne Hutto of Bamberg, SC.
