Eileen Gloria Dunne

Peacefully, at Georgetown Hospital, CCC Unit, we lost our precious Mum on Monday, October 26, 2009 in her 85th year. She was predeceased by her husbands, John Patrick (Paddy) Dunne and Michael Moore. Survived by her sons, Vincent (Marlene) and David (Liz) of Rockwood and her daughters, Gail and her husband Jim McDowell of Acton and Patricia and her husband Jerome Drexler of Rockwood. Much loved Nan of Andrew, Rene (Cory), Adam (Shannon), Megan (Steve), Jerome (Vanessa), Kate (Brian), Leah, Emma (John), Taylor and Matthew. Beloved Nanny Dodo of Mackenzie, Nathan, Molly, Rowan, Riley, Logan, Brenna and Cole. Special Nan of Jen, Lindsay, Mitchell, Tom, Easton and Mason.

Mum will be missed by her brother Jim and Carole, Aunt Lily and sister-in-law Phyllis and families in England. Special aunt to Angela and her daughter Jennifer and Ken and Richard and family. Gloria was a very proud Veteran of WWII (WAAFS) and a proud Canadian. She was a long-time member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary (Past President and Funeral Tea Convenor) of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 197. She was a volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics.

The family will receive friends at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, “Shoemaker Chapel”, 55 Mill Street East, Acton on Wednesday, October 28th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

A joint Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary and Branch Tribute will be held at seven o’clock. Friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Gloria’s Life on Thursday, October 29th at one o’clock in the Ladies’ Lounge, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197, 15 Wright Avenue, Acton.

Private cremation followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, Acton.

Remembrances to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Lung Association or the Legion Poppy Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family.
