Darlene was the steady heart of her family — gentle, caring, and always ready to offer comfort, encouragement, or a listening ear. Her beautiful, warming smile could light up a room, and she had a way of making everyone feel welcome and understood. Endlessly generous, she never said no to anyone in need, giving of herself freely and with a full heart.
A dedicated and loyal worker, Darlene spent decades employed at Columbia Gas, where she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of her coworkers through her kindness and strong work ethic. Though she never married, she built a life full of love and meaningful relationships with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Budford Vannoy; and her brothers Wendell (Diane) and Dennis. Their memory remained a guiding force throughout her life.
Darlene is survived by her daughters, Antonia and Aletha Vannoy; her only sister Karen Bell (Sanchez); her brothers Johnathan (Florence) and Perry (Macbeth); and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. To them, she was not just family — she was the greatest aunt anyone could ever wish for, a source of laughter, comfort, and unconditional love.
Her life leaves a lasting legacy through the smiles she inspired, the kindness she gave, and the countless lives she touched. Darlene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
