

Dr. Dorothy Kovacevich (nee Antof) passed away peacefully December 15th. Born October 25, 1929, she was a life-long Akron resident. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Janko, her parents Christ and Ljubica Antof and sister Helen Pavichevich.
Dr. Kovacevich leaves behind her loving children; James (Cynthia) of Oakdale, PA, Ellen Robinson of Oakton, VA, Christopher ( Bridgette) and Gregory (Maria). She was the dearest grandmother of Bradley, Elissa and Kevin Robinson, Ava, Grace and Madeline Kovacevich and Alexsandra, Michael, Megan, Abigail, Kathryn and Nicole Kovacevich and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy graduated from South High School in 1947 and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Akron. She taught in the Akron Public Schools and also served as Summit County School Psychologist. Dr. Kovacevich then went on to earn her PhD in Psychology from Kent State University and joined the faculty in 1974 where she taught Special Education until her retirement in 1995.
She was an active member of St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church. Over the years, Dorothy served the church in many roles, including choir director and a member of the church building committee.
Dorothy loved spending time with her family, traveling, reading and watching old movies and musicals.
The family would like to thank the staff of Arden Courts of Bath and her personal assistant Julie for their support and loving care during the past two years.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday December 18, 11am at the St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church 3106 Ridgewood Rd., Akron where the family will receive guests one hour prior to services.
The family will also receive friends at the CATAVOLOS FUNERAL HOME 3653 W. Market St., Fairlawn Wednesday, December 17 from 4-8 pm, Parastas service at 7:30pm.
Entombment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church or the University of Akron ”Kovacevich Endowment Fund for the Preservation of the Family” Department of Development Akron, OH 44325.
