Elmer Walter Wilson, III, affectionately known as Elm, E-Dub and Dub, bounced into our lives on March 12th, 1975. He was the first-born boy, son, nephew, brother and grandson in that generation of the Robertson-Thompson clan. And he joined the ranks of the Clark-Moore-Wilson men. Elmer was a natural peacekeeper, but he also did not take lightly anyone bothering his family. Family meant EVERYTHING to him, and there is nothing that he wouldn’t do for those that he loved. Elmer has been the “moving guy,” mechanic, Uber, grill master, mediator, rescuer and protector. He did not like to leave anyone hanging, and would do whatever he could to help. He was often the family daredevil, comedian and impersonator. His rendition of his grandmother, Joan Thompson, is simply the best and remains unrivaled.
On March 6th, 2023, Elmer lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer. However, the way he was determined to live his last months on his own terms, so that he could continue to be with and cherish his family, is astonishing and made us all proud.
Elmer is preceded in death by great-grandmothers, Dorothy Mae Robertson and Fannie Moore; grandmothers Joan Thompson and Jonnie Lee Wilson; grandfather Freddie Finch; aunts Rita Wilson-Brown and Patricia “Trish Ann” Wilson-Boyer; uncles Howard Robertson, Tyrone Ware, Roy Odom and John "Johnny" Blakey; cousins Patrick “Papa” Wilson, LaShondra “Shon Shon” Brown, Alex “A.J.” Beasley, and Arthur “Fidget” Clark; god-father Daryl Wallace and best friend, Albert Pritchett.
Elmer leaves to cherish all of the good times and memories, his loving parents, Doris Wilson (née Thompson) and Elmer “T-bone” Wilson, Jr.; his best friend and sister, Angela “Angie” Wilson; his one and only heartbeat, niece London Nichole Wilson; and faithful god-mother, Karen Vader.
Elmer is also survived by aunts, Fannie Wilson, Connie Odom, Sandra (Charles) Simmons and Tonya Thompson; uncles Walter Robertson, Michael (Geraldine) Wilson, Robert (Esther) Thompson and William “Billy” (Juanita) Wilson.
E-Dub wanted to acknowledge special cousins Lamont Brooks, Keith Jordan Jr., Terence Thompson and Jonathan Wilson; brother-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Wilson Sr., who he affectionately called “Bread”; lifelong friends Shawn Foster and Nathan “C-weed” Wilkins.
Elmer has an enormous village of even more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His village is too numerous to name individually, but understand that he cherished each and every one of us.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Rodney and Crystal (Mendoza) Bowden.
Friends and family may come to call on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 3-4 at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market Street. A Homegoing Celebration will follow at 4 p.m. The family would like to invite everyone to the repass following the service from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
