

Helen was the daughter of the late George and Barbara Raskow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Raskow, and her brothers Robert, Frank, Stanley and Steven Raskow.
Helen was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. After graduating for East High School, Helen worked at Goodyear Aircraft company, Akron. In early 1944, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. She received training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and in Norman, Oklahoma. Helen proudly served her country as an aircraft mechanic and pneumatic riveter (a real-life "Rosie the Riveter"). She was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946, having risen to the rank of Corporal. She returned to live in Cuyahoga Falls and raised two sons. helen was employed by First National Bank of Akron and First Merit Bank of Akron, secretary at the Stow branch for many years, and retired from First Merit Bank of Akron, Trust Department, downtown Akron, in 1988. Upon retirement, Helen relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, where she lived happily for the remainder of her life.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Michael J. Soppi of Fort Myers, Florida; sons, Greg Petroski and his wife Joye (Florida), and Alan Petroski and his wife Deborah (Pennsylvania); four grandchildren, Madelin Dias, Daryl, Ryan and Zachary Petrowski; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
