James graduated from East High School in Akron, Ohio. During WWII he was stationed in Italy where he flew aboard a B24 “Liberator” while a member of the 15th Air Force. He retired after 37 years of service from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in 1980 and was a member of Fort Myers Christian Church in Fort Myers Fl.
James was the dear husband for over 51 years of the late Betty, and was the dear father of David (Nell), Debra (Richard) Guthier, and Dennis. He was the loving grandfather of Eric (Liz) Guthier and Lauren Guthier and proud great-grandfather of Sora Guthier.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 3 at Hillside Cemetery, in Springfield.
