Marilyn J. Bondurant, age 91, of Akron went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2026. She was born on June 15, 1934, and was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore & Gladys Wolfe, her brother, Theodore James Wolfe, her husband William R. (Bill) Bondurant, and her first-born son, William S. (Bill) Bondurant.
Marilyn sold Avon products for 39 years, volunteered as a counselor at Akron Pregnancy Services and served as an Akron Election Poll worker. Marilyn was a lifelong member of the Riverside Church of Christ in Akron, Ohio and Northwest Avenue Church of Christ in Tallmadge, Ohio. Marilyn taught Sunday School at both churches.
Marilyn excelled at loving her children. Her example of faith led all of them to put their trust in God. They can say with the Psalmist “Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did…” (Psalm 116:16) Marilyn defined “prayer warrior.” She stood in the gap. She fought, labored and wrestled in prayer, not only for her family, but for friends and even strangers all over the world.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Donnette of Grayson, Kentucky, daughter Cheryl (Mark) Gidley of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; sons Greg (Tricia) of Sunbury, Ohio, and David (Mary) of Galena, Ohio; sister-in-law JoAnn Bailey, brother-in-law Ronald Benedick, nephew, Larry (Bev) McDaniel and niece, Bonnie Jo (David) Ellis. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Northwest Avenue Church of Christ, 737 Northwest Avenue, Tallmadge, Ohio with a one-hour visitation before the service begins. Pastor Scott Baker will officiate. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park 3653 W Market St, Akron, OH. Marilyn and her family are deeply grateful for the love and kindness shown to her from the Traditions Health Hospice Care nurses.
