Paul N Pappas

PAPPAS, PAUL NICK, MD, DDS, age 96, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2015. Nick was born in Akron, OH to Charlie and Esther Pappas. After graduating from Buchtel High, he received his undergraduate degree from The University of Akron. Seeking a life of service, Nick initially became an English teacher then attended dental school at OSU where he also played baseball. He completed his Oral Surgery Residency in New Orleans. Subsequently he pursued his desire to be a physician, graduating from Indiana University School of Medicine (General Surgery Residency, Youngstown OH; Plastic Surgery Residency, Memphis TN.) In addition to his medical practice, specializing in Plastic Surgery in Barberton, OH, he was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and generously contributed to his community by coaching and refereeing youth baseball and basketball. He was a great lover of animals and a vegetarian. Nick and his former wife, Despina, raised five devoted children: Gregory (Imran) Pappas, MD, PhD of Washington, DC, Esta (Tommy) Pappas Lippard of Great Falls, VA, Theodore (Theky) Pappas, MD of Durham, NC, Thomas (Tami) Pappas, JD of Columbus, OH, and Leah (Quinn) Pappas Porner, JD of Columbus. He is survived, also, by granddaughters Kristy (Lippard) Barthelson; Joy (Lippard) Hanna, Irene, Nicole and Toni Pappas and Ava Porner and several nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to the staff of WTC, Columbus OH for their 9 years of compassionate care. Dr. Pappas's final parting will be August 15, 2015 at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron Ohio.
