Ruth S Kumpf

Ruth Silvester Kumpf departed this life September 25, 2011 in Akron, Ohio. Born in Chicago, Illinois on November 1, 1912 she was preceded in death by her parents John J. and Elizabeth Taft Silvester of Mt. Vernon, OH and husband of 35 years, Robert A Kumpf of Canton, OH. She is survived by her beloved sister Marian S. and brother-in-law Robert E. Mohler of Akron. Having no children of her own, she had a special relationship with her nephew Roger A. Mohler (Laverne) of Uniontown, OH and nieces; Jocelyn Ruth Lance (James) of Richmond, VA and Janice Elizabeth Grove (James) of Akron. She is also survived by her step-son John R. Kumpf (Pauline) of Rockledge, FL; as well as eight great niece and nephews and several step-grandchildren. A graduate of the University of Akron, she was a noted dietician in Pennsylvania, serving as president of the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association and Head Dietician for many years at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She and her husband retired to Akron where she was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Akron Woman’s City Club and a longtime resident at Rockynol Retirement Community, serving on their Board of Directors.

A memorial service will be held at Rockynol, 1150 W. Market Street, Akron at a later date.
