

Delmar Sample, 82, a retired Ellery farmer, passed away Sunday evening at his home. He was born April 21, 1930 at Carlinville, Illinois, the son of Roscoe and Essie Sample. Delmar attended McKendree College and later graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He has farmed in the Ellery area for almost sixty years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ina Lee (Mitchell), one son, Ronnie (Carol) Sample of Ellery, three daughters, Joy (David Coles of Ellery, Beth (Matt) Seals of Ellery and Cathy (Wayne) Provines of Williamston, Michigan, one brother, Darrell (Pat) Sample of Rockford, Illinois. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Ora Lee (Blake) Jefferson, Katie Sample, Nathan, (Leah) Sample of Ellery, Niki (Chet) Greathouse of West Salem, Todd (Wendy) Coles of Albion, Lesa (Daniel) York of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Dana Coles of Arthur, Illinois, Jason Provines of Arlington, VA, Danielle Provines of Williamston, Michigan, Ean Seals of Bloomington, Indiana, and Emily Seals of Carbondale, Illinois and eleven great-grandchildren: Kyler, Carissa, and Trenton Jefferson of Ellery, Wyatt, Cody, and Brook Greathouse of West Salem, Grant York of Bolingbrook, Heidi and Shiloh Beadles, Shali and Tyli Greathouse of Albion.
Delmar was a member of the Bethel Church of Ellery. His hobby was community service by serving on many boards and committees in the church community.
Memorial contributions will be accepted for Matt Henson’s ministry-Living the Adventure and the Edwards County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund.
A celebration of life service will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Bethel church in Ellery. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery in Ellery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00PM at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, IL.
