

Welch, Annie L. (Nebo), age 92 of Albion went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her family and Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice. She was born June 23, 1924 in Anniston, Alabama the daughter of Al and Exer (Jackson) McCowan. She married Elijah Welch, Sr. on December 28, 1941 and they made their home in Albion. Elijah preceded her in death in 2004. Annie was also preceded in death by her mother, Exer and great-grandson, Christopher Williams.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory her 5 daughters: Exie Garrett of Albion, Dorothy (Walter) Stokes of Albion, Thelma Watson of Albion, Pamela Welch of Jackson, Sallie Welch of Albion; 2 sons: Elijah Welch, Jr. of Jackson and Joe (Gwen) Welch of Albion; 19 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
Annie was a very loving woman and was well loved by everyone who knew her. She also loved children. She was affectionately known as the cookie and ice cream lady by the children she sold treats to. Annie also loved the Lord and her church. She was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she worshipped and also cooked for the kitchen. Annie was employed as a nursing assistant at Battle Creek Medical Care Facility and then Marshall Manor. She was also a talented seamstress, even making her children’s clothes.
Annie’s family will celebrate her home-going on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 with family hour beginning at 10:30 AM with a service starting at 11:00 AM at Mt Calvary Baptist Church, 1200 State St, Albion with Pastor Charlie J. Jones officiating. Burial following at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI
