Barry was a loving and caring son, brother and uncle; as well as friend and cousin. He leaves behind a family that loved him and will miss him tremendously. Barry started this journey of life in Albion and Albion was home to him. Barry joined the army right after high school but soon came back to Albion.
Barry saw the good in everyone and helped so many people. He liked his routines: breakfast at the Truck Stop, going to the Taco House, having his dogs – his last task was building a fence so that his dogs could run around in the yard. Barry was a world traveler with his friends and had traveled to Vietnam, Rome and Australia before he died. He would help anyone at any time. He would drive 4 hours to help someone and then turn around to return home so that he would be available for another job the next day. He always managed to squeeze people in and really felt bad if they were without heat or had electrical problems. He was an electrician by trade but could do anything, some might call that a jack-of-all-trades but he was good at what he did and knowledgeable about how to save money and complete a job – he wanted people to be able to afford fixing their house and business problems. He took after his mother and often would put other people’s needs ahead of his own. He was a good friend and kept in touch with family and friends on a daily basis. Anywhere Barry went he was always recognized. He had a quick wit, intelligent, funny, perceptive and a tell-it-like-it-is sense about him. He was kind, generous and curious, ready to say yes or at least “maybe” to what life was offering him. He loved estate sales and could find one in the middle of nowhere.
Barry will be missed and leaves emptiness in all of our lives – he was taken too soon.
His family looks forward to having a celebration of life and sharing of stories, adventures, experiences and history that you may have shared with our Barry.
Barry was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and they have generously offered to provide food, you may bring a dish to share. There will be a fee for beverages.
We hope you can make it - it will help the family and community process this great loss in our lives.
