

He was born on July 26, 1942, in Jackson, MI. to Stanely H. and Clara R. Stringham. Ben spent
his growing up years in Camden, MI. He was always one to take pride in his fast cars and his
sometimes mischievous behavior. While attending Camden Frontier High School, Ben played
Football, Basketball, Baseball, and was involved in the High School Theater productions. After
high school, at the age of 19, Ben joined the United States Marine Corps. and was stationed at
Camp Geiger, NC.
While serving his country, Ben met the love of his life Mary Marguerite Mottern.
They were married on 7-27-1964, and were together for 57 years before her passing, May 5,
2022. While serving in the military, Ben was awarded a Sharpshooter's badge, for his expertise
on the gun range. He was formally discharged on January 4, 1966. Ben loved to reminisce and
share stories about his time while serving his country. He was a proud Marine.
After his discharge, Ben, his wife and child, joined his parents in Albion, MI. Ben began
working as a Tool and Die Journeyman for Albion Machine and Tool in February 1966, he
continued to work there until his retirement in May 2001. He also worked a second job for 20
years at the Standard Oil Gas Station in Albion. Ben was known as a hard, dedicated worker.
Ben had many hobbies, including playing softball for the First United Methodist Church,
for the local Church League. He enjoyed golfing every Sunday with his father at Tomac Woods
Golf Course. Bowling was Ben's favorite hobby. He was extremely competitive when it came to
Bowling, and participated in several leagues. Ben recorded several 600 series games and came
close many times to a perfect game. Ben and Mary had a passion for traveling by car across the
United States, with their family, and friends.
The University of Michigan Football was dear to Ben's heart. He rarely missed a game
on Saturday afternoon. Ben will have the best seat in the house when the Wolverines pursue
their National Title dreams. Ben loved his grandchildren. He spent countless hours supporting
them participating in youth, High School, and College Athletics. Theoretically, Ben's sense of
humor and wit was one of a kind! Ben was a loyal husband, father and friend, who will be dearly
missed by many.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley H. and Clara R. Stringham, his wife
Mary, and son Steven. Surviving: Sister Lou Ann Stringham of Kalamazoo, MI., Daughters:
Wendy (Brett) Warner of Richland, MI., and Lisa (Eli) Zimmerman of Dowling, MI., and
Grandchildren, Brenden, Garrett, and Julia Warner. As per Ben's wishes Cremation has taken
place and a private graveside service with Military Honors will be held at a later date.
