
• Eliza Swinton, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 26, 2013 while in the presence of her loving family. Eliza was born on March 29, 1923 to the late Rollin and Oretta (Bradley) Conyers in Williamsburg, SC. Eliza Conyers married David Swinton Jr. on March 22, 1941 and together they raised 7 children. In 1955 the family moved to Albion Michigan and Eliza became a devoted member of the Leggett Chapel A.M.E Zion Church. In 1973 Eliza completed her High School education at Washington Gardner High School where she received her diploma. She maintained various jobs, including working at Provincial House until 1982. Eliza along with her husband who she affectionately called “Sonny” enjoyed planting and harvesting gardens and fruit trees.

• Eliza was preceded in death by her Husband: David Swinton Jr.; Sisters: Pearl Clark, Mattie Williams, and Lillie Mae Henryhand; Brother: Robert Conyers; and Grandson: Richard Nadar Swinton.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her Children: Howard (Linda Faye) Swinton, Daisy (Lorenzo) Johnson, Ruth Annie Swinton, Emma (William) Ray, Clifton Swinton, Sammie Swinton, and Rolyn Swinton; 3 Sisters: Mamie Gamble, Ida Moses, Martha Newell, 16 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren, 3 God–Children, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many Friends.
Eliza was a phenomenal woman with a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor, a love for cooking especially her famous “Sweet Potato Pies”. She also loved to sew and truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Eliza Swinton will be remembered as a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31:10).
Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 12:00 (Noon) at the Grace Temple
Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion, Michigan 49224 with Rev.Charles Overton
officiating. Family Hour will be at 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Interment will be
at Albion Memory Gardens.
