Elizabeth Estelle

Elizabeth Estelle was born on June 5th, 1929 in Talladega, Alabama to the late Joe and Jennie Duncan. Elizabeth attended Robert Russa Moton High School in Sycamore, Alabama. In 1950, Elizabeth was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, George Estelle Jr., who preceded her in death in 1981. Once married Elizabeth and George relocated to the Great State of Michigan, they were blessed with seven children: Steven Estelle, Dianne Avant, Joann Garrett, Lauretta Estelle, Teresa Folden, Denice Williams and Glenn Estelle. In the early 1990s, Elizabeth was united in holy matrimony to JT Garrett, who also preceded her in death.

Elizabeth was a faithful member at Mount Calvary Baptist Church (Albion, MI) under the leadership of Reverend Charlie J. Jones. Elizabeth was employed at Albion Public Schools for over 25 years, as a cook. Prior to working at APS, Elizabeth was employed at Albion College. While working at APS and Albion College, she connected with several students and built relationships with the community. She loved cooking and sharing her recipes, especially her signature dressing and fried apple

pies. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed seeing people laugh, dance and cracking jokes. Elizabeth frequently read the Bible, her favorite bible verse was Proverbs 3:5-7.

Elizabeth gained her wings on December 5th, 2020 at Bronson Hospital.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Steven (Linda) Estelle of Cheltenham, MD, Dianne Avant of Albion, MI, Joann (Louis) Garrett of Albion, MI, Lauretta Estelle of Albion, MI, Teresa (Darryl) Folden of Grand Rapids, MI, Denice (Michael) Williams of Westland, MI

and Glenn Estelle of Battle Creek, MI. Seventeen Grandchildren, Forty- Three Great Grandchildren and Nine Great-Great Grandchildren. Five siblings: George (Mary) Duncan, Horace (Geraldine) Duncan of Albion, MI. Grant (Mary) Duncan, Lucy (Edgar) Edwards of Talladega, AL. Josie

Duncan of Albion, MI. Two Sister-in-laws Winifred Duncan of Oberlin, LA., and Ada Estelle of Jackson, MI. Two Brother-in-laws Charles (Irene) Estelle of Jackson, MI and Phillip (Angela) Estelle of Talladega, Al. A host of family and friends. Special Thanks to Senior Care Partners (P.A.C.E), Deborah Samons, Sherry Taylor, Theresa Newell, Gloria Ridley, Connie Hall and Stephanie Tomblin.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Jennie Duncan, Two husbands: George Estelle and JT Garrett, Four Sisters: Josephine Headen, Earline Jackson, Minnie Ree Simmons and Inez Hawkins. Two brothers: AD Duncan and Tommie Duncan. Three Grandchildren: Stephanie Estelle, Dawn Estelle and Kim’Bra Estelle. One great grandson, Lonelle Langston.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224 with family hour starting an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
