

Ella Mae Hoyt-Toney, 82 of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016, surrounded by loving family. Ella Mae was born June 27, 1934 in Battle Creek to the late Russell Lake and Julia Collins-Lake. She was married to Don Hoyt Sr. on December 20, 1952 in Angola, IN. Don passed away August 15, 2002. They shared 49 wonderful years together. Ella Mae worked as a nurse most of her life. She owned her own adult foster care home for many years. She was a strong women who only thought of others. She would buy things for her kids or husband and rarely think of herself. She was an avid outdoorswomen who loved to fish, hunt and trap. Many vacations were spent in Arizona trapping and in Canada fishing. She enjoyed cooking meals for large groups of family. She loved embroidering, polka dancing, country music and spending time with her family and pets.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Peggy (Ron) Eakins; son Jerry (LuAnn) Hoyt; son Linus (Penny) Hoyt; son Don Jr. (Brenda) Hoyt; daughter Becky (Thom) Miller; daughter Barbara Peterson; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; siblings Bonnie (Clarence) Wilson; Russell (Rosezella) Lake; and Rosemary Mc Brian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hoyt Sr., parents Russell Lake and Julia Collins-Lake, siblings Betty Harveth, Richard Lake, Buddy Lake, Jack Lake and grandson Wayne Hoyt.
Family will receive friends Monday, December 12 from 6-8pm at Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, Albion MI. A funeral service celebrating the life of Ella Mae will take place on Tuesday, December 13th at 1pm at the funeral home with Minister, Ron Eakins officiating. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery in Marshall.
