
Our beloved Francis Marlin Jackson, Jr., affectionately known as F.M. was called home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2020 at the tender age of 99 years old. Francis was born on September 21, 1920, to Francis Sr. and Cora (Glasper) Jackson in Nesbitt, MS.
Francis found a love for work at an early age when he accepted the challenge to pick 200 lbs of cotton in exchange for a new pair of overalls. Everything he earned, he gave to his parents. On January 16, 1942, he married the beautiful Gertha Mae (Tate). To this union eight children were born, Wayne, Linda, Dennis, Marie, Rommie, Marilyn, Danny and David. Following a heartfelt prayer, which God answered in a dream, Francis moved to Albion, MI in 1951, to find steady work. As his family began to grow, Francis and Gertha began to make Albion home. They joined Bethel Baptist Church and he worked at Albion Malleable Iron Co. In 1964, God called his beautiful Gertha home and Francis continued to care for his children. On February 5, 1968, he married Callie Elizabeth (Gill) and two this union two children were born, Terry and Ontario.
Francis continued to work at Albion Malleable until he retired in 1982. Upon his retirement, he moved back to Nesbitt, MS to care for his parents. In Nesbitt, he and Callie joined Halliburton Missionary Baptist Church, where they served until their return to their beloved Albion in 2004 and rejoined Bethel Baptist Church. Throughout the years, Francis enjoyed fishing, gardening, helping others, working on cars, raising cattle, spending time with his family, sharing stories and life lessons, and imparting wisdom.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Callie; sons, Wayne (Rosie) of Albion, MI; Dennis (Christie) of Battle Creek, MI; Danny of Midland, TX; David (Dawn) of Richmond, VA; Ontario of Albion, MI; daughters, Belinda Robinson, of Atlanta, GA; Marie (Luvorn) Caldwell of Albion, MI; daughter in-law Tina of Albion, MI; god-children, Mary Ann Davis of Horn Lake, MS; Randy Johnson and Sandy (Howard) Franklin of Nesbitt, MS; Andrea Armstrong, and Corey Gaddis of Albion, MI; 40 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Cora; wife Gertha Mae; brother Oscar; sons Erwin and Terry; daughter Marilyn; step-daughter Barbara, and granddaughter Laquana.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00AM at Grace Temple COGIC, 711 Grace Street, Albion, Michigan 49224 with family hour starting at 10:00AM prior to the service with Pastor Fred H. Alexander, Jr. officiating. Interment to follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
