Gilbert H. Elmer age 90, passed away Friday January 15, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born March 21, 1925 in Jackson the son of Howard W. and Irene M. (Winchell) Elmer and they precede him in death.
Gilbert served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked as an Arc Welder for Union Steel Products. He married Eleanor Nolan on February 14, 1948 in Albion and she survives. Gilbert was a member of the Albion Elks Lodge #1798, the Marshall Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed golf, fishing, deer hunting and bowling in his younger years. Gilbert and Eleanor also enjoyed spending their winters in their Florida home.
Besides his loving wife Eleanor of 67 years, Gilbert is also survived by his sister, Beverly Marshall and 4 nieces and nephews.
According to his wishes, Gilbert has been cremated and will be laid to rest at King Cemetery at a later date.
