
oldest of nine siblings. She received her education in Canfield, Arkansas attending the Grant School.
Gladys worked as a private duty domestic for many years and as a Nurses Aid in various Hospitals and
Nursing Homes in both Marshall and Albion. She later became a full-time Homemaker and Farmer. She
made the Albion area home for many years, of which a large majority was spent in Springport, MI. Gladys
understood the value of hard honest work and enjoyed it.
She met the love of her life, Mr. Troy Willie Johnson who at the time was working construction in the Grant
Farm area near Canfield, AR. He was a member of the Civil Corp of Engineers. They were married and
remained as one until Willie preceded her in death in 1992.
To their union three children were born. Their first child, Troy Jr. deceased at the age of 6 months; her second
son is David L. Johnson of Hot Springs, AR; and her third child a daughter is Dorothy R. Johnson of
Jackson, MI.
She also leaves to cherish her memory on son David L. (Charlette); daughter Dorothy R. Johnson; four
grandchildren Deidre L. Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX; Toya E. Johnson of Arlington, TX; Charles Rush of
Farmington Hills, MI and David B. Johnson of Austin, TX; two sisters, JoEddie Williams of Magnolia, AR
and Alberta Wade of Alamo, TN; a brother Nelson Williams of Magnolia,AR; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Her deceased siblings are Otis Williams, Jessie Mae Baker, Louis Williams, Mrs. Arthur Lee Winn and Henry Williams.
Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother, and is loved by all that were blessed to know her.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the J. Kevin Tidd
