Gordon Davidson was born on June 18, 1932 in Albion, Michigan to Laura (Howard) Davidson and Darvin Davidson. He confessed his belief in Christ and was baptized in his early years. Gordon was a man of ethics, morals and principals. He believed in preparing yourself for God, and an honest day’s work. Gordon loved God, his family and friends.

Gordon attended West Ward School and Washington Gardner. He attended Albion College and was later drafted in the Army where he received training as a medic and chef. He served until his discharge. Gordon worked at Union Steel and in 1973 Albion Public Schools as the high school building and custodian leader. He loved the people and the environment so much; he had 25 plus years and retired from there. In his spare time, Gordon took pleasure in taking pictures and videos. He loved to cook and was known as a grill master. Sports were a family favorite; he loved the University of Michigan at the top of his list. Gordon was our family historian and storyteller; he had an exceptional recall memory of people and events that he loved to share.

Gordon was united in holy matrimony with his loving wife Nina Mae Penniex on September 6, 1958. Their love and marriage spanned for over six decades. Gordon enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, family and friends. He loved to visit his grandchildren and join them for special occasions, especially the holidays. I loved my uncle. He was the best. He and my beloved Aunt Nina were always there for me and my sister, Piper. He was kind, loyal and had a great sense of humor. I will never forget when Tammy Lee and I decided to play hooky when we were in the 2nd grade.. When my Uncle found out, he gave me my one and only spanking. That's a spanking? It didn't even hurt. What did hurt was how I knew I disappointed my uncle. I loved my uncle. He was the best.

When did I not know Gordon Davidson? He and Nina were our second mom and dad, and Carolyn our little sister. Gordon would patch us up when we got hurt, repair our bikes, play games with us, and may I say Nina was a pro at Croquet. On Fridays Gordon would always treat us ( the Lee family) to ice cream. He was a talker and we loved listening to him. Gordon was a man of integrity and had a love for family and friends. We were truly blessed to have the Davidson’s in our lives.

I first got to know Gordie through working with Nina at Albion Community Hospital. A few years later Ron and I returned to Albion and I began working at Albion Public Schools and I got to know Gordie even better. What a kind, honest, ethical and joyful person he was!! Gordie was a gentle man in every sense of the word. He will be missed and holds a special place in my heart. Our sincerest sympathies to all his family.
