

Wilbur, Harold M., age 89 of Albion passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 in Battle Creek. He was born March 30, 1926 in Manistee County, Michigan the son of William and Oletha (Cady) Wilbur. He married Patsy Swann on April 5, 1947 and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2008. Besides his loving wife of 61 years, Harold was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gloria Arleen Burchfield.
Harold served our country as a Seabee in the United States Navy during WWII. He then served his community in the City of Albion as a Firefighter followed by serving the Sheridan and Albion Twp. Fire Department as Fire Chief, a position he held for 16 years, totaling 33 years in service as a Firefighter before his retirement. Harold was also a member of the VFW, the NRA and the Fire Chief’s association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing, camping and mushroom hunting. His greatest joy was his girls, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and worked hard to ensure they were taken care of.
Survivors include daughters, Sara (Lewis) McKim, Martha Wilbur and Nancy (Mark) Mohler; 5 grandchildren: Lori Hawkins, Shannon (Danny) Whitehead, Robin (Mark Mohler, Jr) Brubaker, Michael McKim, Kaylee Collier; 4 great grandchildren: Patrick Miller, Michaela Thompson, Cheyenne Thompson, Skylar Brubaker; 1 great great grandson: Micah Roberts; 2 sisters: Alice June Bovia, Edith (Arley) Bergstresser; 2 brothers: Dale (Sylvia) Wilbur and James Wilbur.
Harold’s family will celebrate his life on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM at J. Kevin Tidd funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Albion Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22nd from 6-8 PM.
