James Millis Perkins

James Perkins age 68 of Homer passed away peacefully Tuesday May 30, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 26, 1948 to Millis and Cora Perkins. He married Diane Cousino on August 11, 1978.

James proudly served in the 101st Airborne Division during 1968-1969 in Saigon.

James enjoyed going to his brother’s auction every Friday night, going to the casino, most of all looked forward to working his job at Butler Motor Speedway every Saturday night where he has worked for the last 18 years. He was the owner/operator of Perkins Auto Sales in 2004 and his son joined him in 2006 where it then became Perkins Auto Sales & Repair and Towing from which he retired in 2014.

James is survived by his wife, Diane Perkins; daughters, Angie (David) Elliot of West Liberty, KY, Christy Schafer (David Moore) of Albion and Jamie (Brian) Kramer of Homer; son, Shawn (Jeanette) Perkins of Litchfield; grandchildren, Austin, Justin, Corey, Madison, Taylor, Marissa and Logan; brothers, Orval Perkins, Richard (Betty) Perkins, Carles (Linda) Perkins; sisters, Geraldine (Wheeler) Adkins, Murlene Fletcher, Debra (Randy) Crider; special friends, Bob and Karen Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Perkins and sister Roberta Ratliff.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday June 2, 2017 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at

J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Funeral Service will be Saturday June 3rd at 11:00AM with a visitation one hour prior to service with Pastor Abe Prater officiating. Interment will be at Rice Creek Cemetery, 24 Mile & L Drive North, Marshall, Michigan.
