With hearts full of the hope of seeing our Matriarch again one day, the family of Janice Sue Byrd shares that she peacefully fell asleep in death July 30th 2024 in Jackson, Mi, surrounded in love by her 3 daughters and granddaughter Brianna at age 78.
Janice Sue Byrd was born Janice Sue Hall to George “Jr” Hall, and Bertha E. Hall in Pikeville, Ky July 11th, 1946.
Janice was the sixth child of 11 brothers and sisters (including siblings from both parent’s other unions). As a young adult she attended Betsy Layne High School in Floyd County, Ky.
Our mother was our rock. She taught us morals, gave us love, fiercely protected us, and provided us with a spiritual foundation.
Sister Byrd was baptized as a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in East Lansing, Mi in the 1970’s. She remained a faithful member of the Albion, Mi congregation until her final day.
Janice was an excellent cook, who prepared highly requested and delicious meals for her family and friends. She loved listening to country music and oldies, writing beautiful poetry, collecting antiques, sewing, crocheting, and reading. She was an annual camper at Tri Lake Trails of Marshall, Mi. She decorated her home and camper with a variety of arts and crafts, but she was particularly fond of birdhouses!
I know the saying goes “a mother’s work is never done”, but our mother came pretty close. The children she raised are fully equipped with the strength she instilled in us in so many ways. That is what we want you to remember about our mother. Janice Sue was tougher than nails and had the mental fortitude to power through anything in life and did. Our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, please hold her in your hearts and remember her well.
