Jean Eleanor Torrey

Jean E. Torrey age 91 passed away May 3, 2025 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She was born March 6, 1934, in Albion, MI to Ralph and Louise (Harris) Brooks. She graduated from Washington Gardner High School in 1952. She married Edwin Torrey Jr. in September 1952, and they spent 57 loving years together.

Jean loved her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very caring and giving person. In her early years she worked part time at the Ladies V&R and the Estelle Shops in downtown Albion. Jean especially enjoyed golf, bowling, cooking and reading in later life. She volunteered time several years with the American Heart Association.

In 1975 Jean and her family moved to Singer Island, Florida. There she and her husband owned and operated the Tahiti on the Inlet in Palm Beach Shores for 27 years and also operated several small businesses in the area. They always came back and spent summers at their Duck Lake home to share time with family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Louise Brooks, husband Edwin and sister Donna Rabakon. She is survived by her 3 children Jim (Lisa)Torrey of Duck Lake, Mi, Dianne Sudnykovych of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. and David (Cindy) Torrey of Jacksonville, Fl.; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Jean’s family will celebrate her Life on Monday May 12, 2025 beginning with visitation at 10:00 am followed by service at 11:00 am at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion. Mi. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
