Leon Curry

At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Grace Temple Church of God Christ.

He attended Chicago Public School and Albion Public Schools. Graduated from Albion Senior High School and DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Leon accepted both football and baseball scholarships from DePauw University. He held the highest batting average record in the school’s history. It has taken a decade for someone to beat his record but remains ranked number two in the school’s history to date. Leon also played on the football team his freshman year only. Sports was just one of his many gifts. He joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity Chapter of the University, which was inactive at the time of death.

Leon will be remembered as a very humble, authentic, and unselfish person. He was a special person to all who met him! He departed this life unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in Jackson, Michigan.

Leon is now reunited with his beautiful mother, Beverly Jo Curry, who preceded him in death June 2010.

Also preceded him in death; Grandmother Effie Rae Hunter; Grandfather C.L. Hunter; Grandfather Mazell Curry; Grandmother Rosa Lee Farley; Grandfather Leonard Farley; Aunts Peggy Ann Glover, Fannie Mae Farley and Brenda Farley.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the life of his daughter, Leah Jennae Curry (12 years old), of Chicago, Illinois; Special friend, Augustina Alexander of Chicago Illinois.

Leon leaves to cherish his father, Leon Farley of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Zachary Curry of Marietta, Georgia and sister, Stacy Curry of Lithia Springs, Georgia; Uncle Paul Curry; Aunts Paula Hunter, Lois Farley, Jeanette Farley, Sharon Farley, Jacqueline Farley, and Tracy Farley; Uncles Paul Curry and Leonard Farley. Loving niece Kellye Curry; Host of cousins, family, and special friends.

A family hour for Leon will be held Monday, April 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
