

Mark Denis Howell, 58, world traveler and consummate entertainer, passed away on April 23rd at his home in Los Angeles. Born on Dec. 3, 1954 in Kalamazoo, Mich., he was preceded in death by his parents, William Marshall Howell and Elma Ruth Howell Coldren, as well as a brother, Bill Howell.
Mark loved Lake Michigan, camping with family and friends, California and Speeds on Capital Avenue. He worked as a radio DJ and TV engineer for a number of years in Ohio and Michigan. He also produced numerous documentaries, including the Emmy Award-nominated 'Building the Mighty Mac', as well as the Telly Award-finalist 'The Milwaukee Clipper'. In addition, he was a former SAG and AFTRA member, who was known for his voice-over work in film and commercials. His last job was with CBS.
On one of his travels, Mark flew on the Concorde to Paris and was one of the last passengers to sail across the Atlantic on the QE2 as an oil-fired passenger steamship before it was converted to diesel power. During the crossing, he even managed to run the disco for an evening.
Left behind to mourn are Mark's sons Stephen, Sean and Tim Howell, his beloved step-father Robert Coldren, sister Vicki (Steve) Hood, nephews Jeff and Mike Stormshak and niece Allison Howell, along with other family members and friends.
There will be a memorial service at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 for those who would like to pay their respects.
Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
