Born on March 2, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, to Norval J. and Marjorie A. Stockel, Tim grew up with a big heart, a quick grin, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. He graduated from Tolland High School in Tolland, Connecticut, before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy from 1977 to 1983. Stationed in California and deployed to the Gulf of Iran, Tim served with pride and honor — always wearing his Navy ballcap, along with many others in his well-loved hat collection.
After his honorable discharge, Tim joined his family in Marshall, Michigan, where he worked for Denso Manufacturing for 25 years. He was a hard worker and someone you could always count on — whether you needed a helping hand, a flashlight, or just a good laugh.
A true sports fan, Tim cheered faithfully for the Detroit Lions and Tigers, the University of Michigan, and UConn. He had a passion for fast cars and kept his vehicles in pristine, showroom condition — much to the awe of everyone around him.
Tim was known for his sweet tooth, his playful sense of humor, and his fondness for flashlights, knives, and anything that came with a good story. He had a knack for being just a little ornery — in the most lovable way.
But above all, Tim loved his family — especially his grandchildren, who brought endless light and laughter into his life. They were his pride, his joy, and his favorite people.
Tim’s warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered — every time the Lions play, a flashlight shines, or a story is told in his honor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norval J. Stockel; his beloved dog, Cocco; and his godparents, Uncle Barney and Aunt Vera.
He is survived by his mother, Marjorie A. Stockel; his sons, Jayme Stockel, Wm. Jeffrey (Stacy) Huggett, and Jason Huggett; his grandchildren, Devin, Molly, Evelyn, and Nathan; his siblings, Cynthia Peters, Nora Moss, Carolyn Stockel-Dobbins, Mary Ellen (Paul) Adams, August Stockel, Suzanne (Thomas) Paugh, Marcel Davis, Michael Stockel, and Andrea (Steve) Wills; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
