Willetta "Willie" M Culp

On June 8, 1952 she married Glen Albert Culp and he survives.

Willie graduated from Carlinville High School in 1952. After graduation, she moved to Victorville, California with her new husband, who was stationed in the Air Force.

In addition to her loving husband, Glen, Willie is also survived by daughter Glenda of Albion, son Benjie (Amy) of St. Kitts, West Indies, grandson Kyle of Colon, Michigan, and sister LaDonna Mullens of Carlinville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by parents Wilbert and Eileen Lott, grandparents Emil and Ethel Spickermann and Albert and Bessie Lott all of Carlinville, Illinois.

She, her husband Glen, and children moved to Parma, Michigan in 1965 where they opened the first northern Stuckey’s Pecan Shoppe in Michigan. In 1982 they moved to Albion, Michigan and managed Exxon Mobil Albion Beer Well until retirement in 1999.

Willie was a two-year president of the Elk’s Vivian Society, first woman to be Chairman of the Board of the Albion Chamber of Commerce. She was an Albion Ambassador and served on several committees in the Albion Community. She attended the St. James Episcopal Church.

She enjoyed playing golf and being with her many friends. She loved cooking for her family and friends and keeping her home in order all of the time.

Willie and Glen have a special group of friends, known as the “Nifty Fifties” in Carlinville, Illinois, they have known since both High School and their Air Force days. Over the last 6 Decades, these friends met frequently, and on several occasions, the entire group visited Willie and Glen in Albion, Michigan.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 5-7 PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr. in Albion where Willie worked part-time after retirement for about 6 years. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 11AM with Rev. Mother Darlene Kuhn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oaklawn Hospice, St. James Episcopal Church or the Fountain Clinic in Marshall. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
