Barbara Ann Shields, born on October 3, 1951, in Maryville, went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2025, at the age of 74. A resident of Alcoa, Tennessee, Ann was known for her gentle, generous, kind-hearted, and selfless nature.
Ann graduated from Everett High School in 1969 and completed her studies at Knoxville Business College in 1970. She dedicated many years of service to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, retiring in 2014.
In 1991, she married Bailey Davis Shields, with whom she shared a wonderful life. She is survived by her spouse Bailey, her son Chad Phillip Hatcher, her daughter Lorissa Ann Alexander (Ryan Keith Alexander), her step-son Jeff Goforth (Teresa Goforth), and her cherished grandchildren Aiden Keith Alexander, Lily Ann Alexander, and Taylor Hatfield (Addison Hatfield). Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Tom P. McNiel and Bonnell Phillips McNiel.
Ann had a deep love for music, playing the organ and piano. She served as the organist at Madison Ave Baptist Church from 1967 to 1980 and shared her musical talents by playing piano for several nursing homes. Her involvement in her community was evident through her participation in her church, Friendsville First Baptist Church. Ann was blessed with a circle of life long friends known as the "Birthday Club" whose fellowship meant so much to her.
