

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Floyd Clevenger; mother, Mary Ann Allison Clevenger; stepmother, Mattie Almond Clevenger; and sister, Patricia.
Wayne is survived by his former wife, Mary Nell Butler Clevenger; his sons, Mark (Sara) and Robb (Kim): and brothers, Arnold and Fred.
He was a proud grandfather to Grey (Erin), Adam (Alex), and Alli Varney (Taylor), and a cherished great-grandfather to Ari, Indie, Christian, Ben, Cameron, and TBN.
Wayne dedicated 31 years of service as a lineman for the City of Alcoa before retiring, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to serving others. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, where he served on the audio/visual team and coached softball for many years, impacting countless lives through his quiet leadership and willingness to help wherever needed.
He was a member of the Blount Co. Jaycees, where he held several offices and especially enjoyed working with the Empty Pantry Fund and delivering food baskets to citizens of Blount County. Wayne also served on the board of the Alcoa Credit Union, continuing his lifelong pattern of civic involvement and community support.
In his leisure time, Wayne was an avid golfer who found great enjoyment on the course, often sharing that time with friends and family.
Wayne will be remembered for his steady presence, servant’s heart, and devotion to those he loved and the community he faithfully served. His legacy lives on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to thank the staff at Foothills Transitional Care for their care and support for Wayne.
There will be private family service at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor Keith Ross.
