Born August 12, 1934 - entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 20, 2026.
Joan Barbara Barker, the only child of Eva and Benjamin Barker, was born in Washington, DC.
Joan spent her early years living in Washington, DC and Silver Spring, MD. After graduating from high school she went to work for the United States government.
Joan met her husband Louis Dempsay on a blind date that she had no intention of going on! That fateful date led to their marriage on October 23, 1954!
Joan and Lou raised three daughters: Pam Hauff, Debbie Collins, and Laura Raigoza. Joan’s greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is very proud of her three daughters, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
During the time Joan and Lou were married they lived in IL, MD, FL, and TN. In each state they made many new friends and enjoyed entertaining.
